The Life Of Rochester

Living in Rochester, New York winter always seems to never end and our summers are way too short. All you see outside it snow. It is the end of February and there is still snow on the ground. I am sure that there is going to be snow in the beginning of March.
I hate having to wear a coat everyday and boots. When you still have to go to school even if you come to school with five minutes to spare you still need to go to your locker to put your coat away. It just takes time that you do not have.
You really can’t do any thing in the winter but sledding and it’s not even worth it at times. All of the preparations that you need to do just for twenty minutes of fun. You think about it you have to wear layers and layers of clothes. Sometime if it is really cold you have to put about four pairs of pants on three shirts with a sweeter on top. Now lets not forget your coat that you need to wear. You also need to put about three pairs of socks and make sure that your boots are warm and water proof or if not you have a major problem. After those minutes of fun you have a huge load of clothes to wash when you get home.
Even though winter can be so bad and you have to wear a lot of extra clothing material just to keep warm. There are some benefits to the winter
time. You are able to unwind and relax from your busy summer. It is the perfect time to sit on the couch cuddle up with a great cup of coffee or hot chocolate whichever one you like
better. I would say that my favorite is French vanilla with a little bit of
whipped cream. The winter is a time that you are able to sit down and read that book that you have been dying to read, but you just don’t have enough time. Or you can watch that movie that you have wanted to watch.
You have all the time in your hands that you need. Winter is more of the relaxing type of season of the world. You are able to build on your relationships. The only bad thing is that there is not a lot things that you can do because lets face it we still live in Rochester, New York. There is not that many fun things to do here period, but what can we do about that nothing right? I think that we should just take life with all the different obstacles that it has for us to over come. Just take everyday on day at a time.
Even though we might not like the long cold winter season we still have to live right so just live your life to the fullest. No matter what the weather is. Yeah we might not like to have to wear the coats and boots, but if you really think about it we would complain even if we had summer all year round. We would complain that it was too hot or that we don’t like the hurricanes and tornados that happen in the hot places of the earth. On positive it that we really only have snow, wind, run and sun shine to worry about. Yeah there are negatives to living in Rochester but there are negatives to living anywhere.

Tom Tancredo literacy test

Tom Tancredo stated a week ago that he wants to bring back the literacy test for voting rights. I think that he was serious about this but, i don't think that it is a good idea. When someone relly thinks about it people fought for these right and died so that all people could vote. Now after all that hard work they want to bring back these test, so that people can't vote. Tom stated that if a person does not know how to spell or say vote that they should not have the right to vote.
To me I think that there should npot be a test. I believe that he should step into the shoes of those people that want to have the right to vote. Yeah they might not be able to pronounce it correctly but that should not stop them from voting. I am a Puerto Rican and i think that we should not judge someone by where they come from more on what they bring to the table. I would be very disappointed if they did bring back the literacy test. The people that come here not to bring trouble, but rather to live a better life than what they had. This topic of literacy test does not only concern hispanics, black , it also concerns white people. People of there kind, some of them can come from Italy or Poland and they all have accents or speak another language. Would those people get the privillage to vote just because of there skin color? I think that Tom Tancredo should really think about what he is saying and put himself in those other peoples shoes, to see if it really is fair or not.

Conformity

"Our desire to conform is greater than our respect for objective facts."
- Margaret Drabble

I would have to say that conformity is an act that people do not know that they are doing it. It is something that comes natural to people we do not really think about it when we are doing it. many people are very quick to judge before they even know anything about that person. I know that at times I will do that. It is not like I mean to do it. A great example that I like the type if style that people have. When some have a type of clothing article on others are quick to judge. lets take for example you see a girl with a Apple Bottoms outfit on the thing that might pop in your head is that they are ghetto. The bad thing about that is that you are judging a person by what they are wearing and not by their personality. You need to know the true facts before you judge someone. It is just like judging a book by its cover, just because the cover is boring that does not mean that the book will be boring. We need to stop being so judgmental.

Is Using The "R" Word Appropriate?

Last week Friday January 31,2010, a meeting was held where Rahm Emanuel used the term "F***ing retard" Sarah Palin former candidate for vice president heard what he said. Sarah Palin has a child that is effected by these types of comments. Her child has down syndrome, she decided to call her campaign "her retarded baby". I personally think that the "R" is not appropriate, this word can hurt many people even if one does not mean it in that way. All people should be treated equally if they have a sickness or not. What difference does it make if you have one or if you don't everyone is unique. Everyone can bring something different to the table in there own way.
